Welcome to K5!

My name is Tara Gilliam and our K5 assistant is Anabel Cordoba. We are both looking forward to an exciting school year learning and growing together in kindergarten. Even though this year will be quite different, we are confident that our class will have a safe and fun learning experience.

I recently moved to South Carolina from Yorktown, Virginia. I taught at a Catholic school there for 8 years and loved watching the children grow and learn.  I enjoy going to the beach, spending time with my family, and watching college sports. I enjoy STEM activities that allow students to collaboratively work together to design, test, and reflect when given tasks and projects to build and make. These activities promote teamwork and problem solving skills that are so vital in today's world. I, myself, am a product of Catholic education and see the important role it has in forming the foundation of a child's future.

Mrs. Cordoba has been teaching here at Saint Peter's for three years. She is from Venezuela and moved to the United States in 2001. She first lived in North Carolina and then moved to Columbia in 2015. She has a 13 year old daughter who attends Cardinal Newman High School. She also has two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, sewing, and doing Crossfit with her family.

We both strive to provide positive reinforcement in the classroom and look forward to witnessing our students meet their developmental and academic goals this year! It is a pure blessing to work with both the parents and students to make this happen.

Thank you!

Ms. Gilliam
